Mayor Cllr M.T Myeza Successfully Handed Over Bridge in Collita

The Honorable Mayor of INkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality Cllr. M.T Myeza on the 25th of January 2023 visited Colita area in ward 10 under Cllr. E Lite. The purpose of his visit was to handover a bridge to the local residents of Colita.

The 12th of January 2023, was a great day for the people of ward 05 when the honourable mayor, cllr MT Myeza of Inkosi Langalibalele local municipality visited this area located in loskop.

Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality welcomes the new Municipal Manager, Mr SB Mthembu.

Mr Mthembu whose appointment is with effect as from the 4th of January 2023 joins the municipality at a critical time where the municipality was in desperate need for an administrative head to steer its strategies towards growth and development of Inkosi Langalibalele citizens and enhance its service delivery and improve its audit performance.

New Council Sworn in

The new council of the ILM has been sworn in.

In an inaugural council meeting conducted in the Estcourt Town Hall on November 22, 2021, the INkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality officially swore in 47 new councillors.

In the presence of numerous stakeholders and members of the community, 24 ward councillors and 23 PR councillors took an oath. Cllr. S Khumalo was elected speaker of council with an overwhelming majority, Cllr. M Myeza was elected new mayor, Cllr. N Dladla was elected deputy mayor, and Cllr. MC Mkhize was elected chief whip of council, all from the IFP. Cllr Cherry of the DA was elected to the position of MPAC chairperson.

ILM Men’s Parliament Held Successfully

The hosting of the first men’s parliament under the INkosi Langalibalele marked afforded men from different communities to come together and engage each other on issues affecting them as leaders in their families.
 
The issues of gender based violence (here and after referred to as SGBVF), violence against young girls and boys and violence against men as well. The Takuwani Riime men’s movement in the uThukela district, places much emphasis on addressing the economic hardship that men, women, disabled persons, the elderly and youth faces during this current economic downturn.

MEC Nkonyeni Visits Families of 6 Victims Who Died In a Horrific R74 Accident

KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Ms Neliswa Peggy Nkonyeni today, 22 June 2021 visited families of 6 victims who died in a horrific R74 accident on Saturday evening.

The collision involved a mini bus taxi that was travelling from a wedding ceremony in Nkandla to Estcourt which collided head on with an oncoming bakkie leaving 6 people dead on scene and scores sustaining critical injuries.

Covid19 support program by SALGA

Salga/ UNDP covid- 19 support programme was conducted in the ILM on the 13 April 2021 at the Lambert Park hall. The target group in this regard were local informal traders.

SALGA cited that they were able to source funding from the Japannese Government through UNDP( United Nations Development Programme) with the aim of helping the informal traders to sustain their businesses.Read More

As winter season draw nearer, and more crops will be harvested, the period between winter and spring is not an easy one having noted that heavy rains that poured from December 2020 to February 2021 caused huge damages.
